I need to upgrade a basic elk stack (kibana + logstash) from version 5.6.2 to 6.5.4.
From the docs seems that the versions are compatible and the that a rolling upgrade is possible. My plan is to start upgrading the elasticsearch cluster and then upgrade kibana and logstash. Question:
As soon as elasticsearch will be ported to 6.5.4 will kibana and logstash still work or I need to shutm them down in the meantime?
Please see the upgrade documentation, which has a lot of useful information about pre-requisites, order-of-operations, etc.
Additionally, I would advise upgrading all the way to the current minor/patch of 6.x to ensure that you are caught up with security-related patches (as of this writing, 6.6.1).
