Any best practices for upgrading my ELK stack?

All, I'm currently running the versions below and would like to upgrade to the latest versions. However, my understanding is that it would be better to upgrade to 5.6 first and then to 6.x. Is that correct, can someone offer any advice or experiences on their upgrade? Thanks

Logstash: logstash 5.3.2

Elasticsearch: Version: 5.3.2, Build: 3068195/2017-04-24T16:15:59.481Z, JVM: 1.8.0_111

Kibana: 5.3.2

yes Its suggestion first to upgrade to 5.6 & than to latest version.
