Is it possible to use the S3 as a data storage for elasticsearch? As the local storage and the EBS storage cost will be high in a scenario where TB/PB of data needs to be processed and indexed, using s3 as an option will help to reduce the storage cost.
You can save snapshots of your indices on S3, but S3 doesn't support the features Elasticsearch needs for search. See this post for more details:
