What is the difference between a logstash pipeline and a logstash config file in /config.d?

Hi there,

I was wondering what the difference was between the logstash conf files that you put in /conf.d and pipelines that you can configure within the kibana UI. Are they the same thing that can be configured in 2 places or 2 totally different configurations?
