Hi everyone,
When is it best practise to use a data stream and when is it best practise to use an index? This would be from companies who are midsized to large enterprise.

Hi everyone,

Data streams are designed specifically for continuously ingested, time-based data—such as logs, metrics, and events—where features like automatic rollover, retention management, and simplified lifecycle management are key. In contrast, traditional indices are more appropriate for static or structured data that isn’t primarily time-driven and where you may require fine-grained control over mappings and settings.
Thank you very much for your response, that clears it up for me.
