When I run a small query on Kibana, it sometimes gives me request timeout (set to 60s) and sometimes it runs flawlessly.

Hey Neha, this could be a few things. It's most likely related to the amount of load on your elasticsearch cluster. Multiple users or an indexing spike into elasticsearch could cause a spike in response time.
Have you had a chance to dig into the health of your cluster?
@jbudz yes, the cluster health is fine. It is in green state and the load seems to be fine too.
