If I go to make a scripted field in kibanan (5.2) I'm only seeinf groovy or expression as the Language.
I wanted to use painless.
I've tried putting
script.engine.painless.inline: on
in my elasticsearch config, but it hasn't made a difference.

Can you try changing on
to true
and restarting the cluster? I don't believe we coerce on
to a boolean.
