Looking at the documentation it seems to say that if you only have hot nodes you can't set a lifecycle policy to remove replicas after a certain time period. You would have to migrate to a warm/cold node to be able to do this. Is this correct? If so why not have this be possible with ILM?
There's currently no action to do that, but it's an interesting idea. It would be worth creating a feature request on GitHub
