Did anything change concerning dashboards from version 6.3 to version 7.5?

Hello,

Did anything change concerning dashboards from version 6.3 to version 7.5 ?
I have a working dashboard in one environment with version 6.3, and the exactly same dashboard doesn't work from version 7.5.
The dashboard url used from browser is the following:
http://servername:5606/app/kibana#/dashboard/......

The error I get is:

OPERATION_NOT_ALLOWED status 401

Hi @mpniel,

There have been changes between 6 and 7 concerning saved objects, which might impact dashboards. There is a list of breaking changes in the documentation.

How are you going about your upgrade? Did you follow the prerequisite steps and the upgrade to 6.8 from 6.3 first before using the upgrade assistant?

Hi @carly.richmond

I didn't upgrade the 6.3 version.
I installed in addition a separate 7.5 version and just built all the stuff exactly like in 6.3.

Thanks for confirming @mpniel. What do you mean by build the stuff? Did you import your dashboards from the old to new version cluster? Or recreate from the beginning in the new cluster.

recreate from the beginning in the new cluster.

Ok, since you've recreated from the start it might be an issue with dashboard permissions. Are you logging in with a username and password. If so have you checked the permissions for the dashboard and space?

I loggin with username and password.
I use ROR.

How to check the permissions for the dashboard and space?

Check out the instructions in the Kibana role management documentation, specifically the dashboard example. Hope that helps!

I don't have stack management in my menu.
May be it's because I use ROR.?

Hello Carly,

I don't have stack management in my menu.
May be it's because I use ROR.?

What is ROR? Can you please share a screenshot of your Kibana menu?

Also, please share the entire error you are getting, not just part of it.

ROR is : ReadonlyREST.
All the security access and permitions are managed by ReadonlyREST plugin.

Attached full error text.

Never used this plugin, and since the authentication is done by it, I'm not sure your issue is in Kibana and not in the plugin.

I would recommend that you check their forum for a better help as not everyone here may be familiar with this plugin.
