Disable X-pack features while installing

Hi,

I would like to run Kibana with only security enabled. I am attempting to run Kibana on Heroku and need to keep the startup under 60 seconds. With all the X-Pack features enabled, this is taking too long. I also can't disable them when starting Kibana because this triggers an Optimization.

Is there a way to disable x-pack features when I initially install it?

Thanks!

Does https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/current/security-settings.html#general-security-settings help?

This link gives an overview:

https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/5.4/installing-xpack.html#xpack-enabling

Hey @dadoonet , thanks for the link. Based on that, I was able to disable features in kibana by adding them to the kibana.yml file. As far as I could tell, if I added them to the yaml file THEN installed x-pack, x-pack installed with those features disabled.

The problem I am running into is that it doesn't look like elastic cloud allows you to disable xpack features on the cluster.. so even though I have them disabled in kibana, I cannot disable them on the cluster and kibana hangs while trying to start up. Is there any way around this?

Thanks

That's a good question. I'm not sure you can. Can you ask this to your support contact or in #cloud channel?

Sure thing, @dadoonet. Thanks!

You cannot disable X-Pack functionality in Elastic Cloud.

Why do you want to do this exactly?
