Elastic search-ui - not working

Hi Elastic team,
I am evaluating Elasticsearch-ui for work.
I am not able to run elastic “search-ui” @ search-ui/examples/elasticsearch at master · elastic/search-ui · GitHub

  1. iMac
  2. Elasticsearch running at localhost:9200
  3. “national-parks” Index is created and displays 59 documents at cabana devtools
  4. npm install at …/examples/Elasticsearch
  5. ELASTICSEARCH_HOST=https://elastic:xxxxxx@localhost:9200 npm start
  6. On localhost:3000 — only search bar is coming , on clicking search button ( blank or with search word) —> it returns :: An unexpected error occurred: Unexpected token A in JSON at position 0
