Elasticseach debian upgrade overwriting files

Hi All,

i am trying to upgrade ell stack from 5.2 to 5.5, kibana and logstash package (debian) they do not overwrite the config files as it does prompt to keep the old files, i am having problems with elasticsearch running dpkg -i elasticsearch-5.5.0.deb, according to the site https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/2.4/rolling-upgrades.html it does not overwrite the file, in my case in it did , it does not prompt for keeping the files and broke the cluster.

Can you replicate and create an issue on github with the details so we can take a closer look?
