Elasticsearch - How to start the instance/cluster with Gold or Platinum license

Is their a way to statically start the Elasticsearch instances with Gold or Platinum license.

or is it only enabled on calling "PUT _license" API with license JSON

Yes I think for a brand new cluster you must use the license API or Kibana to upload a commercial license, I do not think there a way to bootstrap with a commercial license other than trial
