ES Doc-Types are removed in future

Just heard on SoftwareEngineeringDaily from Philipp Krenn that types will, in the future, go away in Elasticsearch:

..... We have just decided one or two weeks ago that types will, in the future, go away in Elasticsearch. Do not rely on multiple types in one index too much anymore, because they will be gone in the foreseeable future.

Is there somewhere an offical statement and/or a roadmap for this?
