Filebeat migrate registry file - recent versions

I've failing to implement the process to migrate the filebeat registry file from Elasticsearch 8.9.0 to 8.11.1 and crossed my mind that the guidance for this process found here works only for old versions.

Could someone confirm that this guidance works for upgrades on the newest Elasticsearch versions?
