we deployed elastic on a test environment and i’ve been trying all sorts of diagnostics believing this error was on our end until i stumbled on this forum and see so many people have this error. what is the point of blocking random ips on the internet if you’re hosting a repo? i see so many threads unanswered. is the admin team here sleeping? thousands of repos online run on the google/azure/aws cloud and no one is blocking random ips…
Here is my IP - 85.198.117.71
Please check and unblock the entire subnet - 85.198.116.0/23 so we can use the repo
FYI, we dont use ipv6, only ipv4
After this operation, 97.9 MB of additional disk space will be used.
N: Some packages may have been kept back due to phasing.

Hi @smoothopx,
Welcome to the community! It looks like you are new as I don’t see a prior request for this IP or from yourself or anyone else, so I’m happy to assist you.
We have a dedicated thread Are you getting 403's when downloading? Please read here first for handling unblock requests with common issues and tips, so posting there after trying the common issues rather in a separate topic is the best way to get assistance.
There are several reasons why you may be experiencing a 403 error such as ASNs blocked for legitimate sanctioned connections, to proxy configurations blocking connections on your side. In this case, looking at the ASN that your IP belongs to, it is connected to a sanctioned country that is legitimately blocked.
I would recommend trying another IP if possible, or if you believe the origin information is incorrect refreshing it. If you are still having issues feel free to post on the dedicated thread Are you getting 403's when downloading? Please read here first .
This forum is a place where Elastic employees and community members all contribute to helping, making it a best effort forum. Please ensure any future messages adhere to the community code of conduct, specifically to being curteous and respectful so it remains a safe and welcoming space.
Hope that helps!
I already saw that thread above but I saw that no one was replying to people there so I opened this. Also that thread is locked so I can’t even add replies…
Could you manually open the IP I wrote above on your end so we can run updates?
Ah I see the dedicated thread has been automatically closed as we haven’t had any requests for a while. I’ll try and get that reopened so others can post in future. Thank you for raising @smoothopx!
As I stated above, the ASN that your IP belongs to is legitimately blocked due to connection to a sanctioned country and therefore cannot be unblocked. We do not block or allow individual IPs, but do have an allowlist for ASNs that are incorrectly flagged by the blocking software.
I would recommend trying another IP if possible, or if you believe the origin information is incorrect refreshing it.
Hope that helps!
Just to update @smoothopx the original thread is now opened if you would like to raise your issue there. Thanks again for raising!
