Grafana alongside Kibana

Hello,
i'm totally new to the ELK stack which i use in a SexyLog install. Now i would like to add metrics to another ELK installation but i was reading about Grafana. Since i'm not experienced enough to make a prior choice between Kibana and Grafana, i would like to install both on my machine, then using them on the same set of data then choose which fits best my needs. Or use them togheter forever.
Would be possible?

You can point both of them at the same ES instance. Afaik Grafana still supports ES as a data source. As for configurations, they should just work at the same time as long as you don't map them to the same port. If you encounter any error with your Kibana instance, let us know and we'll be happy to help.
