Hot,Warm and Cold- is only available with out x-pack version?

Hi All
I would like to update my existing architecture with Hot, Warm and Cold architecture. Is Hot, Warm and Cold architecture is only possible with Elasticsearch X-pack.

If no please suggest some links to create this architecture.

There is no dependency on x-pack. You can also use Curator to manage indices and transition them between tiers. Index lifecycle management is part of the default distribution and makes it possible to manage this entirely within Elasticsearch.

For the cold tier I do believe frozen indices requires the default distribution but is available with the free basic license.
