How to increase `path.data` for more space?

I am running out of drive space! I would like to add another volume, and map it to a directory. I would like to change my *.yml line from

path.data: /data1, /data2, /data3

to

path.data: /data1, /data2, /data3, /data4

but then I just loose shards [1]

Suggestions?

[1] How to get back my Primary shards?

Version 2.0+ can handle increased path.data, I was using 1.7.1

I just replied on that other thread. This should be possible. Is it reproducing for you? can you share your reproduction?
