I have created 10 dashboards under my admin account in Kibana. Recently, I added a new user with admin rights for a different team member. However, I want to restrict this user’s access to only 5 specific dashboards, while preventing them from accessing the other 5.
Could you please guide me on how I can limit this user’s access to the selected dashboards, even though they have admin privileges? I need to ensure they only have access to the required dashboards and nothing more. Or if they don't have admin privilege they should be limited to those 5 dashboard
Yes, I have attempted using Spaces and Role management. However, it either grants access to all dashboards or none. Additionally, if a dashboard is assigned to a specific space, the user can still switch back to the Default space without needing credentials, as moving between spaces doesn't require authentication.
This doesn't resolve my core issue, which is limiting access to only 5 specific dashboards out of the total. Could you please assist with a solution for this?
Is it possible to restrict a user to view only a specific space? For example, if I create a user and grant them access to one space, can we prevent them from accessing any other spaces, including the Default space? I would like to limit a viewer user to that space only, ensuring they cannot access the Default space.
Yes, that's one of the goals for spaces, check the linked documentations in a previous answer with the explanation on how they work and who to configure.
But the issue here is you said that you added another admin user, if the user has admin privileges (kibana_admin and superuser roles), those restrictions will not matter.
So you need to create a specific role that would have access to only a specific space.
