How to Run Elasticsearch from source code or IDE

I am trying to run the Elasticsearch from the source code in Idea. I have gone through the below blog trying to do the same

The problem with this is that I am unable to change any settings in the elasticsearch.yml file in <ELATICSEARCH_HOME>/distribution/build/cluster/run node0/elasticsearch-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT/config. Any change made is overridden when the next gradle run.

It would be great help if some one can help me with the procedure for running from the source code itself and not attach it.
