How to troubleshoot basic installation - Windows 10

Hello,

This is my first installation of ELK and everything is working except adding PacketBeat. What are the steps to verify basic installation of the PB Service, beyond it not starting, which in my case works. There is a log folder created but no logs, nothing in the event viewer. I've run the exe in a console and don't see anything there either.

Windows 10 Enterprise
packetbeat-1.2.1-windows
kibana-4.5.0-windows
elasticsearch-2.3.1
logstash-2.3.1

uninstall winpcap then installed wireshark with winpcap, now it works.
