Is it OK to rolling upgrade ES version by version?

I mean version 5.5 rolling upgrade to 5.6 and then to 6.0.

This is supported if you let all 5.5 nodes upgrade to 5.6 before you start upgrading any nodes to 6.0 (note that 6.1 is available now).
