Heat map layers cluster point data to show locations with higher densities. The index must contain at least one field mapped as geo_point or geo_shape.
If your docs which you were indexing had enough of those, then it would display correctly. But however, am ccing a maps team member here @Nathan_Reese for more inputs .

It appears the Time picker at the top right is set to "Last 15 minutes". Were the pictures taken at different times? Perhaps the data has changed between the time the pictures were taken?
