I would like to ask the designers of the new "vibrant color palette", if they ever tested it with Lens visualizations? Very useful function of highlighting the line when hovering it in legend, works now only for 5 of 10 standard colors! The first color of the color pairs has the same color, as the second one, when unhighlighted.
Please try to find the line "Z2", which is highlighted via legend:
The same story is for Z4 and Z6.
And all automatic colors were changed during upgrade in all visualizations. So, it would take a lot of time to set all colors manually.
I hope the color palette will be changed with the next release.
thank you for your feedback, you are absolutely right with your concern and we are actively exploring a quick solution for this.
Unfortunately, one down-side of having a lighter and brighter color palette is that it comes with a few limits on light mode. Our approach of proposing a set of color with less variety but more consistency comes with a series of effect that we need to control.
While we work on a solution, I wanted to mention that this interaction works way better in dark mode, I know this doesn't fix it but maybe this could give you a temporary alternative

Indeed for Lens visualization built with automatic colors the dark mode looks very good and this interaction works perfectly too.
But we use many visualizations with custom colors too (Lens and Vega) because we have to assign different colors consistently to specific metrics according to its specification. And some of these visualizations look not good to terrible in dark mode. And as the light/dark mode cannot be set per dashboard individually, we have either to optimize each dashboard for both modes or to switch from light to dark mode as "standard" and make users to use it. And in that case I expect some resistance especially from top management, who don't want their reports look differently with every new Elastic release.
Hello again Alexander, just wanted to give you a quick update in order to share with you what is coming to fix the issue
We took the chance to fix a couple of details that we wanted to tackle for a while and the ending results is not only an adjustment of colors but a proper improvement of the whole hover effect.
As you can see in the following images and video, the light shades of the palette are way more visible and clearly identifiable. There are still improvements that can be considered but we believe this will be a good update
Good afternoon Eric, the issue you are experiencing is not related to the colors themselves but to a inconvenience happening when the light/dark mode is applied according to system settings. If you pick Dark mode, for instance, everything should work fine.
There is already a PR implemented that will fix this!
