In the new Kibana 9 UI it's possible to customize the column visualization with "Edit data view field".
This allows to e.g. enable to truncate a field to the first x characters so it only needs a reasonable size in the overview grid.
Highly unexpected is that
- the detail view of the entry does not show the full data but also only the truncated one?
- the "Copy value of ... " feature in overview or detail view only copies the truncated value and not the full value.
This renders the whole feature quite useless ...
Next problem:
This setting can only be adjusted from the column header in the overview, but not from the detail view. So when the column has be removed from the the overview, the whole setting is not accessible any longer but still applied to the detail view.
So in order to reset it, the user has to add the column again and reset the truncation from there.
I'm wondering that I cannot find more topics related to the new Kibana 9 user interface ...
I'd like to see specific tags for each Kibana version ... because getting "similar topics" presented during creation of this topic, that are nearly 10 years old, is really useless.
