Kibana Alert Email - URL broken in SMTP email notifications

Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue with Kibana alert emails sent through an SMTP connector.

Kibana version: 9.4.3

Alert message:

La règle Kibana {{rule.name}} s'est déclenchée:

  • Nombre d'erreurs : {{context.value}}

  • Seuil configuré : {{context.conditions}} over {{rule.params.timeWindowSize}}'{{rule.params.timeWindowUnit}}

  • Date de détection : {{context.date}}

  • Lien : {{context.link}}

    Expected behavior:

    The variable {{context.link}} should appear as a valid clickable link to the Discover view.

    Actual behavior:

    In Outlook, the generated link is not rendered correctly. Only part of the URL becomes clickable while the remainder of the hostname and path appear as plain text, making the link unusable.

    Troubleshooting already attempted:

  • Using {{context.link}} on its own line

  • Removing HTML tags

  • Using HTML anchor syntax

  • Using Markdown formatting

  • Sending the link as raw text

    Questions:

  • Is this a known issue with {{context.link}} in Kibana 9.4.3?

  • Could this be related to server.publicBaseUrl?

  • Has anyone seen Outlook alter links generated by Kibana alert emails?

  • Is there a recommended alternative such as {{rule.url}} or {{context.viewInApp}}?

You can use below action where for the link use extra {} which considers the complete URL & clickable :

* Date de détection : {{context.date}}
* Lien : {{{context.link}}}
