Kibana logs vs filebeat kibana module

I'm investigating the filebeat kibana module to ingest Kibana logs, but the kibana doc (7.13.4) seems lacking in how to configure the json format logs. The module seems to want to look in /var/log/kibana/*_audit.json and /var/log/kibana/kibana.stdout but the default kibana install dosen't seem to log to these destinations and the kibana doc has no example that seems to apply.

I can't find how to get kibana to produce the files at all (_audit.json) and get those files to rotate daily.
