I don't understand the Markers in the Histogram Settings in
Kibana/Marvel. How often will the marker be drawn in the diagram (I
always get only one marker with a "Top 5 of {Limit} events" tooltip)?
Can I control the position of the marker somehow?
In Marvel, the marker is drawn whenever there is an "interesting" cluster
event happening - like a node is joining/leaving, cluster status changing
to red/yellow/green, etc. The horizontal position of the marker is based on
the exact time/date that the event was recorded.
Thanks, I didn't know that.
But where are the markers set in my custom histograms in Kibana?

If you just have plain Kibana, you can Configure your histogram, under tab
Queries, section Markers. Then in there you define your marker query and
the field to be displayed in the marker.
