Lightweight alternative to the java client

Hi,

Using the Java client of ElasticSearch seems to be depdneded on the whole Elasticsearch and Lucene, etc.
This seems to make the server application twice as heavy.. Are there alternatives to that library, except manually building JSONs for Http Request.

Also is there a git issue regarding making the query builders independent of the elastic core?

The Jest REST library has minimal dependencies.
