Markdown Widget doesn't appear to be functioning using mustache in v7

When using the markdown widget, it appears that any mustache typed text is printed literally when previewing or saving. Was this feature removed and if so how do I create something similar?

This is what i have in my widget:

- Benchmark Title: {{ benchmark.title }} 
- Description: {{ benchmark.description  }}

Are you using the markdown functionality in the "Visual Builder" visualization or just the markdown visualization?

Ok so using the visual builder this worked after following this discussion.
