Moving disk to another data node

Running out of space with current 4 node cluster w/replica. I would like to install new larger disk drives but it may require moving disk drives from one data node to another. Does the master node have the ability to recognize that the disks are moved to a different node without corrupting data?

I don't know the answer to your question;

But i do want to point out elastic doesn't limit you in adding a second drive to an already existing node as far as i'm aware. Meaning you could add a second drive, mount in under (linux) /data/disk2
and update your elasticsearch.yml to also use the second "directory"

This is theory for me and I haven't done so myself but still wanted to point it out.

Are these physical hosts or VMs of some sort?
