Problem with xpack maps app when configured document layer with remote index pattern

I am trying to configure a document layer with an index pattern which is in remote cluster. I am getting below exception.

Unable to fetch index settings for index pattern '<clustername:indexpattern-name>'. Ensure you have 'view_index_metadata' role.

Note: I disabled kibana security module as I am using opendistro

Could somebody help how to resolve it? Thanks in advance.

If you are using opendistro then the maps application is not supported. Maps is only supported with Elastic's distro.

What version of Kibana are you running? There was a bug resolved in version 7.7.1 that effected remote indices, [Maps] Handle cross cluster index _settings resp by nreese · Pull Request #66797 · elastic/kibana · GitHub
