Remote cold storage node?

My company has decided that it is going to be more economical to use elastic cloud for our high performance storage but long term data retention would be too expensive. We do have a large amount of lower performance storage available on a local NAS and enough compute to run a node.

I was wondering if it's possible to have a remote cold storage node while retaining the ability to search it with kibana (a local kibana server is also doable if required)?

Welcome to our community!

You won't be able to join those nodes into a cluster on Elasticsearch Service. You should be able to setup cross cluster search though.

What would be the best way to have the cluster in elastic cloud send logs and whatnot over to my "cold storage" node?
