I've run up an Elastic cloud environment and it's working well so far.
Our hardware nodes have a mix of SSD and spinning disk and what I would like to be able to do is specify a data directory, or have a pre-configured dropdown to choose a data directory. This way I could choose to have a hot or cold storage node on the same host and be able to utilise all the disks while maintaining performance for the hot nodes.

This is currently not supported but may be added in the future.
Having different node types run on separate allocators, e.g. an allocator for hot and an allocator for warm nodes, is on our roadmap.
