Snapshot and restore - 7.14 version to 8.0/8.x

I do see that for upgrade from 7.14 to 8.0 requires upgrading first to 7.17 version then to 8.0 to have the compatibility of the indices.

Is this applicable for "Snapshot and restore" as well, where 7.14 cluster (Remote Cluster) needs to be upgraded first to 7.17 version, then to migrate the index to the newly built 8.0 cluster? or 7.14 version snapshot can be directly restored into the 8.0 cluster?
