Good afternoon!
Can you tell me if there will be a revision of the possibility of using ldap and email notifications in the basic license this year? In my opinion, if you allow integration only with ldap, perhaps even with restrictions, for example, without strong filtering, the free license will not harm the paid version of the product. The same applies to mail notifications, as email notifications are not something out of the ordinary, like notifications in Jira or other corporate products.
Elastic does not talk about roadmap or future changes, but I don't think that this will change in a near future.
As a user I think that there are many features that justifies a license besides ldap integration and alert actions, but I still think that this can hurt sales, my company for example the first reason to get a license is to have ldap integration because compliance reasons and I know many other companies that did the same for the same reason.
About e-mail notifications I don't think that this is really an issue because you have alternatives to it, you can use a third-party tool like ElastAlert2 or even Logstash.
Even while having a license I still use ElastAlert2 to send alerts to e-mails and webhooks because it is easier to do with ElastAlert2 than with Kibana Alerts.
Regarding notifications, yes, you can solve this using logstash and other tools, we use logstash for this. But it would be much more convenient for me personally through kibana, and in my opinion, making email notifications paid is a controversial decision.
Regarding LDAP, some of my friends buy an elastic license to integrate with AD, rather than with a regular LDAP server, so I think that AD should be paid, but integration with openldap can be made free, since there is less functionality there than in AD.
If the team has a different opinion, then fine, I just decided to clarify whether there will be changes in the basic version on these points.
Thank you for answering my questions.
