OS: Debian 12.6
Kibana Version: 8.15.0
Elasticsearch Version: 8.15.0
Change causing the issue: Upgrading from 8.9 to 8.15 and upgrading the operating system from Debian 11.7 to 12.6.
Description: I am using the elastic user to login to Kibana and this user is in the superuser role. In the Dashboard Section of Kibana, I click Share and no longer see the Permalink Option. I do see Links and Embed and can copy a long URL link. How do I enable the Permalink Option? This worked prior to the upgrades mentioned above.
Hi @jbreitman ,
The UX has changed in the recent version, you need to look for Share button on Dashboard and click it to open the menu where you can select "Get links"
You can find the docs for 8.15 by link

Thank you for replying. I only see the options that I pasted and our options are different. Is there a role or permission that I need to update to see those options? I have the basic license and am using the elastic user which is in the superuser role.
I can confirm, it is due to license.
I just verified it locally. I will double check with the Team if that was intentional.

@jbreitman thanks for bringing up this issue. I have confirmed with my team this is a bug that popped up in the new design of the sharing options. The requirements should have been that all copied links are to be short URLs or "permalinks" as you call them - regardless of license type.
Edit, filed issue: [Share Modal] Dashboard "Copy link" is supposed to copy a short URL · Issue #192418 · elastic/kibana · GitHub
Thank you for following up and please let me know when the fix is available.
Are you are able to share a target date for resolving this issue?
The issue I filed was closed as a duplicate of Kibana - Dashboard - Share Feature - Short Link not working · Issue #191090 · elastic/kibana · GitHub.
Unfortunately we can't share a target date as this time.
