Periodically I get the error "Unable to Parse URL" in Kibana when trying to pivot. I can't seem to find a rhyme or reason for this. It seems random as you would think the same pivot would experience this every time but that isn't the case. I have seem some mention on git that it is browser related but I have the same issue in Chrome or Firefox.
Any thoughts?

Can you check the URL length when you get these errors?
I will take note of that the next time it pops up. Is there a hard length that it will not process past?
It depends on the browser, but usually dashboard can increase the URL length a lot by saving the state in the URL. The workaround/fix for this is to enable state:storeInSessionStorage in the Advanced Settings.
Is there a preferred browser that handles these things better? I made the requested change and just got the error. Here is the URL with an obfuscated hostname. The URL seems extremely long, is there something I can do shorten that?

Enable the state:storeinSessionStorage setting in the Advanced settings. That will make it shorter.
This came in after that was enabled. Is there any sort of service restart that needs to take place after that change? Have you seen certain browsers handle this better than others?
Chrome usually handles long URLs better. if you enabled that an URL should look something like this:
https://localhost:5200/app/kibana#/dashboard/New%20Dashboard?_g=h@44136fa&_a=h@a33122e
