Upgrading x-pack

I am thinking about upgrading x-pack from 6.2.1 to 6.2.2. Do I need to update my elasticsearch to 6.2.2 as well?

And if I uninstall the x-pack and install the new one, are the previous watcher settings erased?

Yes. It's mandatory.
Your existing settings will be kept.
