Active Inactive Metricbeats Monitoring

Is there a way to see what servers have active and also inactive metricbeats? Over the past two week we went from 118 nodes (Linux and Win) to 97. We are trying to find a way to ensure we are continually getting data from our intended sources. From what I've read so far it seems like setting up a Watcher might solve part of this problem as we could create one that tells us when a metricbeat becomes inactive.

If there was a way to set up a visualization and dashboard with a beat.hostname list and the data status that would be very helpful as well. Appreciate your time ELK community.

Update: I just came across the daemon Heartbeat in my search. Seems like this might be a useful tool to get this done as well.
