Column too large for kibana data table display

I'm trying to display a message that is about 1420 characters in a kibana data table. Any reason why this will not display or does anyone have a work around? Any way to do a substring? Below is an example message. I have this problem on both 5.6.1 and 6.0.0.

Hi Kyle,

Can you be more specific about what happens right now in your Data Table visualization? Are you getting an error? Or just blank?

It looks like my long text gets clipped;

Regards,
Lee

My text is long I guess or something is preventing it from displaying. if I update the message field to "blah" ... it will display. Here is the error that I'm receiving.

5 will display but the rest of the results don't because they are a lot longer or contain something that is not allowing it to display.

Example of text not displaying:

I updated one of the messages and see that at 258 characters it will not display. Below is the example of 257 characters long.

What browser are you using?

Can you please open the browser's console (F12 on Chrome and some other browsers) and see if there are any errors shown there?

Also, can you look at your mapping for this index and see if there's something like this "ignore_above": 256 in it?

If you go to the Kibana Dev Tools > Console you can make a request like
GET <your index name>/_mapping

You might see something like this;

"address_full": {
        "type": "text",
        "fields": {
          "keyword": {
            "type": "keyword",
            "ignore_above": 256
          }
        }
      }

Thanks,
Lee

Ended up being the ignore_above is 256 .. I changed that to 3000 and it now displays the messages.
