We are currently using Elasticsearch version 8.17.0 for data auditing purposes. We would like to know whether this version is compatible with Amazon Corretto 17 or 21, instead of using Oracle JDK 17.
Could anyone please provide clear details on this as soon as possible?
I don't think we are testing this JVM as far as I can see in Support Matrix | Elastic which is the source of truth in terms of what is officially supported.
This means that you are on your own if you don't use one of the supported JVM from that page.
Thank you for the information. I need a small clarification.
Currently, we are using Elasticsearch 8.17.0 with Oracle JDK 17, and it is working fine. Our requirement is to run the same Elasticsearch version using Amazon Corretto 17 instead of Oracle JDK 17.
We would like to confirm whether Elasticsearch 8.17.x is compatible with Amazon Corretto 17. This information will be very helpful for us to proceed with the migration process.
As David mentioned, this JVM is not tested, it is not present on the Support Matrix page, so I would consider it as not officially supported.
It may work, but if you have any issues and need support, Elastic will ask you to replicated the problem with the bundled JVM or one of the supported JVMs.
Elastic supports some OpenJDK-derived distributions: 1. builds by the IcedTea Project; 2. those produced by OS vendors in the “Product and Operating System” matrix which have passed the TCK tests; 3. Azul Zulu starting with Elasticsearch 6.6.0.
Corretto fits point (2) of that note
It is OpenJDK derived
It is produced by Amazon, and Amazon Linux is a supported Operating System
It passes the TCK
It is a supported JDK for Elasticsearch, although we strongly recommend that you run Elasticsearch with the bundled JDK instead.
