Copy users and roles created in kibana to new cluster

Hi,

I've multiple users which are created to access Kibana in my current cluster.

Now, we have planned to have a new cluster and I would like to have all these existing users copied from my previous cluster to the new cluster.

Is there a possible way which we can do it?

Thanks in Advance.

You can, take a look at Create a snapshot | Elasticsearch Guide [8.6] | Elastic.

Thanks alot for the suggestion Mark. This would really help.

I need a few more confirmations on it.

  1. I'm trying to move this from 7.14 to 7.17, so will that be a problem if this system index(. security) is copied/restored in between two versions?

  2. Also, I would like to know what are the other features which might restore into the new cluster along with the users and roles when I'm copying the/restoring the whole .security index.

What I mean is, does . security index contain any other features apart from just users and roles?

Just wanted to confirm before implementing it.

Thanks in Advance.

No, it will support that version jump.

That index only contains Security relevant information.

Cool. Thanks a lot.

Let me try it out.
