Creating custom Maps in Kibana

Hi I've just went through the Elastic document on creating custom basemaps and found it very insightful.

My issue is I want to have data displayed on each point on the map. Say you have storefronts across the U.S. Then for each storefront, you would like to hover over the area where the stores are existing and see information on order volume and such.

When I try to visualize this, it always comes out as counts of documents on a heat map (if you're wondering what I mean, please see the first couple of images in the link I provided). I want to add more information than just document counts. Possibly points on a map, where the user can hover over and see the store activity. I feel like this is something that is very much possible, but I'm not able to determine how. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thank you

https://www.elastic.co/blog/custom-basemaps-for-region-and-coordinate-maps-in-kibana is a little dated, Kibana version 6.2, and came out before Elastic maps was released.

You can plot individual documents with Elastic maps https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/7.7/maps-add-elasticsearch-layer.html
