How to delete a field from Kibana-->Management--> Index Patterns page? I see that a field is not indexed and is present in the Fields listing. Also is not part of the index mapping template.

the index pattern, just scans for the mapping in all matching indexes and loads this.
So if the field appears in the index pattern field list, it was found in the mapping of any matching index.
If it's not there anymore, maybe because your mapping has changed since you added that index pattern, you can use the "refresh field list" button on top, to reload from the current mapping in Elasticsearch.
