Does logstash has any dependency on Elasticsearch version

Hi,
Does logstash has any dependency on Elasticsearch? When I checked the Kibana documentation it has clearly said that Elasticsearch & Kibana should be on same version. But no such information I am able to find on Elasticsearch or Logstash.
Please let me know if there is any version dependency of logstash with Elasticsearch
