Does Kibana Need LogStash

I am currently working at a enterprise company who has a large amount of infrastucure. We are using windows (I prefer linux).

As I am trying to find answers to my questions, I thought I would be get it faster by asking here.

To use Kibana with ElasticSearch, do I need to have Log Stash configued?
If not, how does Kibana gather all the data from elasticsearch?

Kibana queries data in Elasticsearch directly, so there is no dependency on Logstash. You do however need to get data into Elasticsearch in order to have data to work with in Kibana.
