ElasticSearch and Kibana Version Compability

Hi,

We have a requirement to update OS from CentOS7 to RHEL 9. Current ES version is 7.17.8. As per the matrix_compatibility (link), Elasticsearch version 7.17.8 is supported on RHEL 9 while Kibana versions from 8.3.x is supported on RHEL 9.

  1. Can we have data/master nodes on 7.17.8 and Kibana on 8.3.x on RHEL 9?
  2. Is Kibana 7.17.8 supported on RHEL 9?

No. Elasticsearch and Kibana must always have the same version.

As per the support matrix you linked to it is not.
