Is there a convenient way of snapshotting Kibana charts in static svg/png/jpg formats
or CSS/javascript widgets eventually, to display or embed them within other application views outside Kibana?

You can use the Share button on KB4 to get an iframe link you can embed, but there aren't any other options at this time.

We built a solution to snapshot Kibana dashboards and also a scheduler to distribute them periodically to a number of users. I just published a blog on this: http://guidanz.com/blog/report-scheduler-for-kibana/
